5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
(These two objects put Christians in direct opposition to the world and the worldly. They have to lean on their own understanding; it’s all they have.)
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
(Contrast this with the world ignoring Him)
And He will make your paths straight.
(A promise and a result of acknowledging/trusting Him)
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
(Trust in the wisdom of God, shared with us through His Word)
Fear the LORD and turn away from evil.
(Fear is analogous to respecting the power of God to punish evildoers;
it gives one great impetus to seek Mercy and avoid being an evildoer)
8 It will be healing to your body
And refreshment to your bones.
(Blessing upon blessing upon blessing)
