Here we are-the Scotus has spoken, and "Obamacare" is now the rule of the land.
Shock and awe? Nope. Angry much, Doug? Nope. Surprised? Kinda, but I do something that
President Obama seems incapable of: I accept the Laws of our country as written.
I cannot willingly (let me emphasize that: willingly) decide whether or not to obey a law, or, if
I were in authority, could not decide whether or not to enforce/ignore any Law.
As a Christian, I honor God by being a good, Law abiding citizen of the country where God has put me.
It doesn't matter whether anyone else (including the President) picks and chooses which Laws he will
obey. He will answer to God for his own actions. I will answer for mine (but not for my sins-those are paid for by Christ).
So, now we will have the burden of Obamacare. I will vote for my Representatives who will promise to overturn it, by making new law. But I will abide, as that is what God's people do.
There are quite a few on 'my side' who will get angry at the Government for what they are doing to us.
Obey and abide under the king, friends. He's not doing anything that God doesn't allow to happen.
Honor your King by honoring your king. He may be worse than Ahab or Nero or Caesar or Pharaoh, but we abide, and seek God's help in making it through whatever we face. We aren't thrown into coliseums to be torn apart by lions; we do not fear Inquisitions which would imprison and torture us, burning us at stakes.
It's a Law. We can get through anything with God's help, which was as true yesterday as it is today.
This dude abides.

You might notice a change in picture at the top of the page-this is a friend long ago returned to her native land, Lithuania.
She was born just as her country was shaking off Communism. Hers was the first generation to be born 'free' of the Soviet Union.
She LOVED the freedoms we enjoy here in America, but she willingly returned to her home to abide under Lithuanian rule.
If we love our Country, we abide under the Laws of our land. Period.
And we pray for Mercy and Grace. Period.
After some hours of conversation/opinions on the interwebs about the SCOTUS decision on Obamacare, I find some who blame Chief Justice Roberts for voting with the Liberals.
Not me.
I liked him when President Bush put him on the bench, and I respect him now for having the courage to vote as he saw fit.
Justice is supposed to be blind to political persuasions.
We assume that it isn't, that Liberal judges will follow their party line, Conservatives the same...but perhaps our assumption is wrong.
Chief Justice Roberts didn't make his decision lightly, I'm sure of that. I imagine that it was the hardest ruling that he has ever made in his life.
As I wrote in the post: we will abide. We are lawful citizens, even if our President ignores the Laws that he doesn't agree with.
We're better than that.
I had mixed feelings: half of me wanted it to be rejected while half of me wanted it to pass. It seems the right thing to do, but I just worry about the burden on some small businesses.
I'd like to know how Romney has any room to critique it since "Romneycare" (as it's known) is almost identical in form.
Keep in mind that the government is not becoming an HMO. It is not providing or managing health care or serving as the primary insurer. It's simply creating legislation around who must be insured via private companies (many of whom will now have hundreds of thousands of new customers to spread the risk over).
Hello James-"Romneycare" (as it's known) is almost identical in form.
I had a lovely comment vaporize in response.
ah well.
"Obamacare" is actually "Hillarycare"
which the Clintons unsuccessfully tried to get passed in Bill's first term.
Identical down to the individual mandate, which was a major sticking point back then.
But that's just my opinion.
It was one of the reasons that the Republicans took charge of Congress
for Clinton's second term-no one wanted for the Government to have so much power over the population.
Time will tell.
A vote for Romney is a vote to return to economic sanity.
By the way, how are you doing these days? You don't often write of your personal goings on. Actually, you don't write about them at all!

By choice, James-I don't tweet or facebook or give up any personal info anywhere on the interwebs.
I'm doing fine, looking forward to the 4th. Ran a Bible quiz at church tonight-Ladies vs Men and the ladies won.
Sample question:
Helmet of Salvation is mentioned in two books of the Bible-which ones?
Of course you can google the answer, but there at church we just keep the Bibles open.
First guess would be Corinthians and Ephesians. I was more certain about Corinthians. As it turns out, it's Ephesians and Thessalonians. I was half right. At least I got the right Testament!
Well, James, you got one of the right books- it is in Ephesians.
It's also found in Isaiah 59:17-which no one guessed in the quiz.
You did make me check on Thessalonians, though-nope.
