Trust me, I am NOT bashing President Obama in this post, and it isn't a political post, at least not to me.
I was just visiting Rush Limbaugh's site-he has had an "Al Gore Doomsday Clock" counting down for years-I guess back when Gore thought that he was relevant he proclaimed some prophesy about whatever.
Seeing that clock made me wonder if anyone was counting down President Obama's time in office, and yes, of course I found one on the interwebs.
Here's why I'm posting:
Saturday, January 21st will be President Obama's first day as a former President. Whether you like/love/hate/ him, whatever you may think of him, that is going to be a life changing day.
Irregardless of your opinion of the job he's done, the Presidential responsibilities and burdens weigh down every man in the Oval Office. No one leaves that job unchanged.
I wish him well. America and the world have grown more troubled in the last eight years-I have no idea what the world will be like eight years from today.
On that date, September 29, 2022...whoever is President, I can guarantee that there will be
countdown clocks on the internet noting the number of days that he (or she) has left in office.
But for today: may God have mercy on the United States of America. We need it.

I might as well admit to it now-I see no great difference between Repubs and Dems, and I don't care who wins or loses anymore.
I hope that doesn't make me a bad person.
Um, Obama's term won't be up until January 2017. Two presidential terms from then will take us to January 2025.
Hello Lu-I was counting eight years from today's date; whoever is President then will have 843 days left in office, OR four years plus 843 days, depending on when he or she gets in and whether or not that person wins re-election.
It was more about the fact that whoever is in office, there will be those who will be setting clocks.
I haven't set any count downs, but am usually relived whenever anyone who has been in office for years leaves, Republican or Democrat.
It is too, too early to start the Presidential nuttiness, but I don't see anyone on either side of the political chasm who impresses me.
I don't think Hillary has a chance, but I am notoriously wrong about politics. Biden? Good luck.
On the Right...nothing. No one comes to mind.
Have a good night, Lu-I R beat.
The CW is that the Democratic nomination is HRC's if she wants it, and that she's got a great chance of winning if she runs, especially given the weakness on the other side. I pretty much subscribe to that, and I'd be proud to work for her. (I also like Elizabeth Warren, a name that I'm sure sends you screaming toward the hills, but if HRC runs she's got no chance and she knows it. Warren is two years younger than HRC, so if HRC served two terms Warren would probably be too old to run then. The same calculus applies to Biden. Timing is everything.)
On the GOP side you have Ben Carson, who's a raving lunatic but still taken more seriously than he deserves; Mike Huckabee, who's probably not acceptable to the independents he'd need in the general election; Ted Cruz and Rand Paul ditto, though for different reasons; Marco Rubio, who may not be acceptable to the GOP base; Scott Walker and Chris Christie, who may or may not be able to extricate themselves from scandal in time to run; Mitt Romney, possibly the biggest glutton for punishment ever to walk the earth; Jeb Bush, who may not want the job or the marathon required to get it; Rick Perry, who can't possibly be serious; and probably a few others who haven't come out of the woodwork yet but have their own obvious flaws. To date the GOP doesn't seem enthralled with these prospects. (Sarah Palin won't run. To run you have to convince the moneymen that you have some chance of winning; Palin couldn't do it last time around and she can't now.)

Better to be unsure as of now, Lu-I am cocooned by ambivalence, and you may have more enthusiasm for the political process than I can muster.
Both sides repel me right now. Liars are offensive, and politicians have devolved into professional liars willing to speak any untruth about opponents or themselves to win votes.
I know that it's a different deal, but read the warning that God delivers through Samuel in 1st Samuel 8, starting in verse 10.
The description of a human king for Israel fits every tin pot dictator and most political 'Statesmen' who desire to build their own tiny empires.
