Hey Ponty, Truth was staring you right in the face when you said that.
Which is a thumbnail view of what is what.
Since the snake deceived Eve, the lying and misrepresenting has just been going on just terrible across the face of the globe.
Mr. Alfred Yankovik many years ago wrote a song called, “Everything You Know Is Wrong” and while the verses are humorous, there is quite a bit of truth in the title.
Nothing on our side of heaven is absolute-we do learn some truths, which we pass down from father to son.
But the three thimblefulls of truth we cling to are lost in the oceans of false ideas passed down as truth.
Here’s a litmus test for truth-the more true something is, the harder and deeper the misinformation is spewed to try to wash that truth away.
Here’s an example from your daily life. Israel. Birthday-May 14, 1948.
Objective truth-Israel is a country, sovereign within it’s own borders, just like every other country in the world.
To this day you can find 18 gazabillion (see what I did there?) websites decrying that fact as fiction. You can find a few billion people who wish that it weren’t so. But there Israel sits, soaking up all the good sunshine to this day.
God-you know the one I mean, the One who created everything, saw sin ruin His creation, made a way for the Creation to be restored through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. He’s also the one who set apart Israel as His special possession. The hollarin’ over THAT has been pretty bad.
You will hear more lying and misrepresenting about God in a single day than Israel gets in a decade.
Why? Because if God is right, and you reject God, everything you know is wrong.
Start with one conjectured idea: the Christians (you know the ones I mean) are right about God.
If they are right, all other religions are false. And you are doomed.
So, how would you handle that conjectured idea? Pretend that the Christians are wrong?
Congrats-you just took your place with the liars and misrepresenters.
Pretend that no one is right?
Same verse, stinks like the first.
Accept the truth and bow before God asking for mercy?
Ah.

10-10-2010
Gone-it was all gone. Every penny of his money, his family's money; taken by pirates wearing suits and ties-they stole it all 'for the greater good'.
He looked to the clock in the waiting room. Ten hours past on time to see the doctor.
His family used to have doctors waiting on them like servers in restaurants. Now, his last cash money went to pay the bribe to be allowed to wait for the doctor who might not even be in today. His hand went to the pocket holding the silver spoon, his mother's silver ladle. Would it be accepted as payment by the doctor with the prescription signature? It was still there...but would it be enough?
Ted Kennedy bowed his head in his hands and cried.

A Six Thousand Dollar Hammer!
The US Gov just paid six thousand per for tiny hammers to crush in the skulls of fetuses aborted under Obamacare! SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS! I'm outraged! (And they were made in China!) In case you have to be told, this is sarcasm. Not reality. Carrying on muggage.
I just finished watching another video of a Demoncrat, Rep. Niki Tsongas (D-MA) facing a mixed crowd of antagonized citizens and Democrat shills. Tsongas failed to win over the citizens, though I must admit that the paid Democratic shills holding the professionally printed signs seemed to be in her pocket.
One of the points she suggests would be a triumph for Obamacare was this: when a doctor is sitting with a family who must make the tough decision as to whether or not to end a loved one’s life by withdrawing treatment...that doctor’s time would be reimbursable to Medicare/Obamacare. He or she can bill the government for sitting with the family. A triumph of Obamacare over the old system where a doctor working in a hospital is paid by the hospital. And the doctor was sensitive to what the family was going through. Doctors and nurses have compassion, not governmentally mandated billable sensitivity.
Yesterday I was gathered among the oldest citizens on earth, many of them smoking like smokestacks. Under Obamacare most of them would be denied more expensive treatments as they had already utilized their life potential.
Which brings us to Richard Matheson.
If you don’t recall the name, it’s okay. He’s a writer, and you’ve seen some of his stories made into movies; he was well represented on the old “Twilight Zone”.
50 some years ago he wrote a story in which near Utopia had been achieved by society. No war, no hunger, everybody getting along.
But this was achieved through rules, mandated by the Government. Only capable, useful citizens were allowed to survive.
Older people had to be tested once a year to prove that their abilities/mental faculties were within the Government mandated levels. The story begins with an adult son going over the tests with his father, who isn’t quite as sharp as he was the year before.
The old man is angry and frustrated; his son’s pleading is the only reason he puts up with the practice testing.
If a senior citizen fails the Government testing, they are immediately executed. No going home for goodbyes, no hanging on and being a drain on the Utopia.
The son and father both know that he won’t pass this time. He’s just doesn’t measure up. The son doesn’t know what to do, but the father takes action. The night before his Test he goes to a pharmacy which will sell a “Black Pill” to seniors under the counter. The old man beats the system by dying at home with dignity, surrounded by his family.
Matheson. The story is much better written than my synopsis.
Many Democrats are just as upset at the idea of Obamacare as we on the Right are. We seem to be Dem and Repub standing together against the FAR Left of President Obama and his Washingtonian Greek chorus.
I am so grateful that we will be holding mid-term elections next year. Look for many worried Democrats to pull away from President Obama to save their seats. What a world!

A Cold Brick But Not A Gold-Bricker
A dear sister in Christ whom I respect has written a post on her site where she suggests that the Church in America should be doing more to help our brothers and sisters facing persecution around the world. She also asks us to "pray for the fat, happy, distracted, and lazy church in this country who long ago forgot the God of Heaven who wants to call them out of darkness."
This troubled me, and this is a response to her comment.
I am part of a good church.
We care. We pray. We do what we can for each other, are a 'love one another' people.
Could we do more? Absolutely. There is always more that could be done. But it troubles me to be called distracted and lazy simply because we have been blessed to live where God has placed us.
Our persecuted brothers and sisters are no more noble than we are, and we are not lesser Christians simply because we live in a country with more personal freedoms. Christianity has no borders. Christ does not love them more or us less.
It is as easy as shooting fish in a barrel to tell Christians that they aren't doing enough. We each know how wicked we are, how weak.
But I suggest that God gives each of us burdens, brings each of us through different trials and tribulations which refine us, make us more like Christ. He is in charge of our lives, if indeed our lives belong to Him. I trust that He will not long allow rust, dust or laziness to take hold in His Church.
I'm sorry that I offended my sister in Christ, as she says that I did. I am in no way suggesting that there aren't issues and problems in the churches in America. She said, "While we are Christians, we’re not perfect, and we need a kick in the pants from time to time to knock us out of our lethargy."
Okayfine. But I refuse to feel guilty (legalism) about not doing enough (legalism). I'm trusting God to keep me busy. So far, I handle the responsibilities/duties He gives me, one day at a time. But I also enjoy Life, the life which God has given me. What does it say in Micah 6:8?
"8 He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?"
That's what I try to do, every day. Even when I'm watching movies, or reading a book, or visiting with friends/family who are not Christians. I can't write that without sounding selfish, but there it is. Fat, maybe. Happy, yes. Distracted? Not on your life. Lazy? I'll let God be my judge.

Random Thoughts Tuesday On Wednesday
Haven't randomized lately-too much too little too late...a lyric from the eighties which segues us into moviepost, specifically an eighties movie which has had audiences 'wondering what the' for over 20."Brazil", by Terry Gilliam. I picked up/watched the Criterion edition the other day, and it still has quite an impact. So many villains, so many sacred cows torched or upended. It struck me that the Wachowskis (formerly the Wachowski brothers) should be paying royalties to Gilliam for using elements of "Brazil" in both "The Matrix" and "V For Vendetta" (relax-I know that "V" is adapted from a graphic novel, is not their invention. They still owe Gilliam.) If you want to see the whole 9.5 yards of "Brazil" in all of it's director's cut glory, Joe Bob says check it out.
Mid-Summer, and I feel good. Even though feelings don't rule, I still am affected by them, just like everyone. It feels good to feel good.
I ran across an alleged "Former Christians Support site" the other, which purported to be the domain of those who no longer believe in God. It did make me laugh. They are what I like to call liars. They 'were' Christian in the same way that some liberals pretend to be Republicans while posting racial/homophobic/evil comments on websites. What's that term? Oh yeah-Sock puppets.
So the faux Christian sock puppets join this "Former Christian" site and what do they do? Talk about how wonderful their lives are now? How happy they are? Nope-just more and more griping and complaining about God and Christians. Psalm 14:1 all over the place. Thus endeth the random thoughts.

Wake Up Before It Warms Up
4 The LORD has made everything for its own purpose,Even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD;
Assuredly, he will not be unpunished.
8 Better is a little with righteousness
Than great income with injustice.
11 A just balance and scales belong to the LORD;
All the weights of the bag are His concern.
12 It is an abomination for kings to commit wicked acts,
For a throne is established on righteousness.
18 Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
Proverbs 16:4-5, 8, 11-12, 18
I don't care how many times President Obama is hailed as a great man. He's a liar, a corrupt, arrogant man who has already done much damage to our country and the world.
Where is God in this? Right where He has always been. He is our Creator and God. He even makes the wicked for the day of evil. Check a calendar.
Usually, when the people of Israel went away from God, God would give them an evil king who would make things so bad that the people would repent and return to God. If you don't want to take my word for His Word, look through 1 Kings, starting about the 11th chapter. Ouch.
So, am I being 'un-Christian' by referring to President Obama as evil? No-it would be 'un-Christian' for me to call evil good, or good evil.
See you in church.

30 Second Bible Lesson
63“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. 64“But there are some of you who do not believe.” John 6:63,64
I know the context of the above verse; if interested, look it up in John's Gospel. It could be described as a 'Hard Saying'. But today my focus is on four words in the middle of the verse: "the flesh profits nothing".
There is not a single thing we can do in the flesh to please God.
Some churches consider it a sin to miss services or stop attending-flesh.
Some churches consider it 'being faithful' to attend services and continue attending. Also flesh.
If you read God's Word to please God...flesh. It's still you "doing" something to try to please God.
How can we please God? By believing on Him whom He sent: Jesus Christ. Believing is an act of faith, not flesh.
"6And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." Hebrews 11:6
Believe that He is. Faith.

And It Was 40 Years Ago Today...

One of the first sad nights of my life. I was riding in the back seat, ten years old at night, listening to the radio tell us about The Moon Landing. That was exciting, but mixed with sad.
Our family was heading over to the next town to comfort a sudden widow. We were once neighbors, and we kids were all about the same ages...but now their father had died.
That's my memory of the night of the Moon landing. Ten years old at night.

Coming Back, Not There Yet
Here's a (hopefully) short post as to. Faith, not feelings, friends. Notice the comma-it doesn't say 'Faith not, feelings' . That is the way to destruction. Faith is concrete, feelings quicksand.
My faith in God began those 30 years ago that I've often mentioned . Since that day, I have not had a moment of a millisecond of doubt that God exists.
That He could love me, yes. That He could have an interest in what happens in my life-honestly, yes.
The more that I've learned about God, the more I realize His love and benevolence are real, and those few doubts were washed away a long time ago.
Do you realize just how opposed most of the world is to God? I mean the true God, the One Who saved me.
Most of my life is spent feeling (note the word) like a Tottenham fan cheering against Manchester United while sitting on the Man U. side of the stadium.
Or like a Christian in a world of pagans.
I'm not alone, or exceptional in this. To varying degrees, all Christians know what it is to be 'in the world but not of it'.
Peter wrote: "7and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men 8(for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds)," 2 Peter 2:7,8
I know that God has everything well under control, even those who doubt His existence, as the next part of the verse reads: "9then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 10and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority." 2 Peter 2:9,10
So when I see corrupt Man striding around as if he were something, I know the end result, which makes all the more clear God's command to the Christian in Romans 12: "14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse." Brother, they need blessing!

Withdrawal From Un. Sin. Non.
Un. Sin. Non. Anti. Negative. Call it whatever, but in simple: I love this beautiful world, and have to deal with it getting uglier and darker every day. I'm getting tired of dealing.
"THEY" win whenever "They" outlast us by going nastier, lower, dirtier than we would ever allow ourselves to go. Those willing to do 'anything' in order to get their way will always win when competing with those of us limited by conscience and morals. But in winning, they cheapen their humanity- their sins pile up and eventually suffocate them.
This isn't in reference to any single event-there are so many sad examples in play right now that to list them would sour me more.
Instead, I go back to God's Word, and read, "8Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."
Philippians 4:8
There's a lot of dishonor, wrong, impure, ugly, of ill repute in the world today. Who needs it?

Second Verse, Different Than
I was re-reading my last post, about God extending His Grace to me, making it possible for me to stand. Then I remembered earlier posts where some few remarked that I seemed to be:
1. Gloating.
2. Happy that some people go to hell.
3. Obnoxious.
Let me make it clarified like butter:
A: I am not gloating, but grateful. I know what a stinker I am, and how my own righteousness wouldn't buy me a dirty old shoelace to wear as a tie.
B: I dread that people I care about may end up in hell. I pray as often for my unsaved friends to be saved as I do for my brothers and sisters in Christ to be encouraged and blessed. But my prayers won't get anyone in the door, unless God extends His Grace to them. God changes lives. He especially likes to bring into His Kingdom those who think they don't stand a chance of making it into Heaven. Stinkers like me.
D: As for Obnoxious? I have no idea. If I am obnoxious, it must be in my blind spot-I'm not saying it's not there...I just don't see it.
Friends, if you knew God, you'd know why I'm happy, content, and at peace. Praise God!

Eventful Contentful Doug
"You can't stand still in a hurricane."
So began one of my earliest writings after becoming a Christian. The writing itself was horribly weak and juvenile, but, so was I, thirty years ago. It described what was happening in my life, how the metaphorical hurricane of the world tempested all the harder at me when I turned towards God.
God so designed events in my life to bring me to the point where I would reach up for His hand. I thank God every day for extending His Grace to me, for bringing me into His family, our family.
Winds still blow-life is full of events and non-events which we live through most of the time.
I have found that being with God, who has promised to never leave nor forsake me, makes it possible to stand still in all winds and weathers.
I am content. I am at peace with God and some of my fellow men. That makes me rich, richer than Bill Gates, King Midas and Bernie Madoff all rolled into one. I’m even richer than their lawyers!
Praise God for His Grace and the Mercy which He bestows on whom He will!

And Now...The Real Housewives Of Tehran!

This interview is a feather in the ol’ chapeau for Kathy Couric, CBS news anchorweight. She finagled a primo meet with the Al Jazeera network reality stars, 'The Real Housewives Of Tehran' by agreeing to a few governmental restrictions:
No video.
No audio, although a transcript of the conversations is allowed to be broadcast.
Kathy Couric needed to don a burka herself to conduct the interview-no makeup, no shiny shoes, hijab... even though it was done via conference call from her office in New York:
K Couric: Ladies, thank you for agreeing to talk with me today.
R-HOT: ... ..... .....!
K Couric: If I may, I'd like to speak first with the wife of Mr. Samir Rhas. Is she present?
wife Of Mr. Samir Rhas: ... ... ... ?
K Couric: No, I’m sorry, Jay Leno isn’t on my network. But yes, he is taller in person. May I ask a question of the wife of Mr. Ahmed Cruxshir?
wife Of Mr. Ahmed Cruxshir: ... ... .... ... ?
K Couric: Thank you-they’re capped. Your husband is a realtor for Sheik Aboul Ou. Puddn, the well known international banker. Isn’t there a lady in your group there whose husband is also a realtor for the same Sheik?
wife Of Mr. Ahmed Cruxshir:... ..... ..... (expletive) .......!
wife Of Mr. Bernpa Rascule: ...... (expletive)(expletive)(double expletive)... ....!
K Couric: Ladies! Please! Um...peace be upon you!
R-HOT: (screaming) (expletives) (hijab and then hair pulling) (expletives)...............................................
Kathy Couric leaned back, lit a Pall Mall and smiled. Ratings platinum.
